Giving Ranajit
a Home Again

During the quakes, Ranajit’s home was severely damaged. The top two floors of his home were destroyed, leaving the first floor intact under the rubble. It was much too dangerous for Ranajit’s family to live in the first floor of their house under those conditions, and, as a result, they had no home and no other place to go.

Giving Ranajit a Home Again

In order to make the bottom floor livable again, Ranajit needed to demolish the rest of his house. But this kind of labour comes with a hefty price—it costs 60,000 rupees (close to $1,000) or more. Ranajit and his family couldn’t afford to do this.

Soon after the quakes, GFA World-supported Compassion Services teams were able to help many families affected by the tragedy—including Ranajit’s. His family received food and a tent to stay in.

Later, a Compassion Services team of 55 volunteers came to help Ranajit demolish his house. Ranajit was so happy when the team came, and he and his family even made arrangements for the volunteer’s meals. The team spent hours clearing rubble and moving his family’s belongings to a safe place.

“Thank you so much for your support. I will never forget your help. You helped me and my family in our extremely difficult situation.”

Currently, Ranajit and his family are dwelling in the first floor of his house, which is now safe to live in. Ranajit plans to rebuild the rest of the structure someday, but for now, he is happy to be back in his own home again.

“I am so thankful . . . [to all] the volunteers, brothers and sisters,” Ranajit says. “Thank you so much for your support. I will never forget your help. You helped me and my family in our extremely difficult situation.”

Please pray for Ranajit and his family. Ranajit earns his daily wages by farming. The family also attends a local fellowship led by a GFA-supported pastor, so please pray God’s Word will encourage their hearts.
